A standard in your jewelry collection—the classic gold bead bracelet. This bracelet features 8 mm solid 14 karat gold beads with tiny solid gold beads in between to give the bracelet flexible movement. A solid 14 kt gold swivel lobster clasp is used on this bracelet. Even though the metal of these beads is solid 14 karat gold, the bead itself is hollow and is lightweight in nature.

The gold on this piece uses what is called “heavywall” beads that can resist dents better than average gold beads. It is a must in gold jewelry! Regular gold beads are too soft and will show signs of wear much sooner. This is not to say that the bracelet is heavy, but rather, the beads are thicker than regular quality gold beads. This bracelet weighs about 4-5 grams. But, in heavy wear, the beads will show signs of wear. (Another option is to buy a bead bracelet that is made from gold fill. This is 14k over sterling silver and it is harder than solid gold. It wears beautifully. Please send a message if interested in this option.)

Sometimes someone will question whether or not this is real 14 karat gold since each individual bead is not stamped with a quality marking. 14 karat gold is 58.3% pure gold. It is mixed with other metals such as silver, copper, or palladium to make the alloy more durable. Otherwise, pure gold is too soft to be used in bracelets. A common test to measure if something is pure gold would be to see if it was magnetic. Pure gold is not magnetic. This test doesn’t work very well with 14 karat gold because there is roughly 40% of the alloy that is magnetic. The magnetic test does work well with 18 karat gold (which is 75% pure gold)

My bracelets are strung on a sterling silver plated stainless steel wire that has 49 strands all bound together. It is very strong.
